Using Windows Xp, Service Pack 2. I downloaded a file to install a game (it
appeared on my desktop) and i had begun to run it. Part way through i
terminated the main download and quit the downloader. Now I cant remove the
initial download off my desktop, whenever i try to it says that it is in use
and to close any programs using it and to retry. I have tried installing it
and uninstalling (the main program) and using ctrl+alt+delete to no effect,
ive tried deleting the processes but i dont understand what im doing well
enough. Help.

Hi,
Try deleting the file from Safe Mode.

315222 - A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=315222

If unsuccessful from Safe Mode try Unlocker from
http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
or Locked Files Wizard from http://noeld.com/programs.asp?cat=misc
Be careful with programs of this type. They *will* delete essential system
files if that's what you enter.

Hope this helps,
Don
