Hi, I am hoping that someone has a solution out there for me.

My computer updates regularly, however when the computer restarts to
finish the installation, it is not able to restart. I get a screen that
tells me that it needs to use a startup trouble shooter which then tells
me that I need to use system restore. So I go through all of this to get
the computer going again, then it tries to update immediately and then
wants to restart and etc etc all over again. If I put off the updates,
everything works fine.

Any ideas where the crossed wires are on this one?

Thanks Muchly

I would suggest you run an antivirus program as a starter. I assume you have
such a program and that it is updated. Let me know if that works.

Yes, I have run an antivirus (does so daily) as well as some spyware
stuff and its all come up clean. The restart is also on.. it will do it
automatically..well, the shutdown portion anyways...

Now, when I bought the computer the tech recommended not using AVG
(which is what I was using) because of something to do with the
updates... Does this sound familiar to anyone? I thought he meant that
AVG wouldn't update automatically.. not Vista. Plus he was really pushy
on the expensive antivirus so I figured that it was 90% sales push. :p
