I guess I am sick then. Have it running in a VMWare Workstation session
because to this day, M$-Windows does not support interoperability nor
X-Windows. This trick also works well with SUSE, Fedora and RedHat....as
well as Solaris.

But need to consider if I am going to use VMWare on Linux or VMWare on
Vista. Jury is our and 22 days left to decide.

Like "interoperability with X-Windows" is on anyone's "must have" list.

Yeah, whenever I run PCLinuxOS I run it in VPC. It's a good way to run
Linux - under the control of a real OS!

It is if you are in a business running apps MS-Windows is too small to
handle. I would hate to have to tell my employer I can't run the config app
to address a failure at 2am.... not for what I get paid.

While not the norm, I bet business adoption of Vista, in reality, and FUD
aside is quite a headache at Microsoft right now. I do know at least 2
major employers have a "Do not call with Vista issues" with their help
desks....and my exposure is not broad.

Maybe time for Microsoft to read about Coke Classic and New Coke.

Subjective, and I guess MS does not support it's use on Vista Premium, and
can run on Linux...

So waste of time.

He's talking cr@p anyway, windows does support interoperability and it does
support X. I think he means he doesn't know how to do it.

If anyone is interested in running an OS in a VM, the best way to do this is
to have GNU/Linux as the host and Windoze running in a VM. Not the other
way around. One wants the security with the host computer, as nothing runs
if that gets screwed up by malware. On top of that, because GNU/Linux is
just better, I've found running W2K for example in a VM on a Linux box
allows it to bootup and run faster than it does if running on bare metal.
The TCP/IP stack is so much better on Linux as just one example, that W2K
running in a VM gives faster Internet then running it bare metal and
relying on the Windows stack. On top of that, if W2K suffers any security
compromises, it's so easy to just unarchive the VM backup and be back
running W2K. If the host is Windoze, then all is screwed until Windoze is
reinstalled. BTW, I use VMPlayer to run a number of different OS's in their
respective VMs when I want to play around with them.

Cheers.

"The other way around" works just fine here. Vista is secure and fast,
and Linux is easier to install in a VM than on the real machine. Linux
actually has drivers for the ancient hardware that the VM presents, so I
don't have to worry about finding Linux drivers for my real hardware.

I guess you've missed all those who have come here asking how to remove one
piece of malware or the other. So much for "Vista is secure". Any other
fairy tales you want to put out?

Linux drivers comes bundled with a Linux distro. Works fine on MOST hardware
out there. In fact, there are more hardware drivers available for Linux
today then there are for Vista.

Cheers.

"Malware" is not an automatic thing. You get it from downloading the wrong
stuff. I don't get any.

Any more FUD you'd like to put out?
