.tmp file deleted from recycle bin shows up at next start up

I saved a webpage as HTML only (*.htm;*.html). When I opened it I got a
message saying, "Problem came up in the following areas during load: Missing
files ..." I clicked OK and the page looked relatively OK. I empty the
recycle bin before shutting down, and since the webpage save, this .tmp file
shows up in the recycle bin after the next start up.

I have run disk clean up to remove .tmp files, and used the delete browsing
history/delete all on IE7. Also, according to the properties, the .tmp file
is created and deleted at start up, and shows an origin of RECYCLED. After I
empty it from the recycle bin, the next start up the file name is wxyz#.tmp,
where # is increased by 1 from the last time it appeared in the recycle bin
at start up. If I restore it, it disappears from the recycle bin, and I
can't find it when I search my computer (including system & hidden folders).
Lastly, I have tried not being connected to the internet at start up.

It's not a big file, but it's a nuisance. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.

Seems to me you are going to have to run an antivirus or spyware dectector.

Thank you for your quick reply, Mark. I have run spyware and virus software,
but it hasn't helped.

In case it's useful, I'm running Windows XP Professional with SP2.

Still hoping someone can help. Thanks in advance.

You could try looking at the Add-ins you have installed. One of them might be
doing that. IE, Tools menu, "Manage Add-Ins"

Thanks for tip #2. Unfortunately, after disabling all the Add-in, the
problem persists.

You could try emptying, and turning off the recycle bin, restart, and turn it
back on, and restart to test.

Still no luck. By turning off the recycle bin, I assume you mean reducing
the maximum size to zero. When I do this, the file doesn't show up the next
restart, but when I reset the recycle bin back to 10%, the file shows up
again at next restart.
