I see posts of " Tiny Footprint Mode " and how to get out of , but how
does it occur ?
Jim

Hi bojimbo26,

It occurs the same way you get out of it, by double-clicking on the border
area. When someone finds themself in that mode and doesn't know what it is or
how to get out of it, my assumption is that they accidentally double-clicked
on the area that triggers it.

The same way as you get out of it, by double-clicking on the border.
It's what's called a toggle: each time you do it, it reverses the
setting from regular mode to tiny footprint mode, or vice versa.

Almost invariably, whenever anybody finds himself in it, it's because
he did this by accident. I've never seen anybody use Task Manager in
Tiny Footprint mode on purpose; I think it's not a very useful feature
at all.

You can resize it when it's in Tiny Footprint mode, if you want to keep
an eye on something you can have it on top of your workspace in a small
window so you can keep on working without it covering a large portion of
your work area.

Yes, I understand the reasons why it exists. I just don't see any of
that as particularly valuable, and I've never seen anybody actually do
it on purpose.

Do you use tiny footprint mode on purpose? Do you know someone else
who does?

I can see a use for this, but my problem is that when I use Tiny
Footprint Mode (TFM) on the performance window, all I can 'adjust' or
see is the processor usage. How can I see page file usage when in TFM.
Also, are these the only performance items I can monitor? The
performance tab seems to be rather sparse with what it monitors. :(

That is all see when you use the performance tab. You can see more
information for individual processes but not much more for other things.
You can use perfmon if you want to do more detail monitoring.
