Ok, I have an Emachine T2482...and it has a cdrw as well as a dvd drive...2
drives. Everything was cool with making copies, until last night. I was
doing something else when I noticed that the cdrw drive was not listed in
*My computer* The cdrw tray works, but windows wasn't recognizing it. I
looked under hardware in my device manager, and lo and behold it's there,
but there's a red x through it. I tried to enable it, but it says windows
couldn't fix it. It also said that devices are normally disabled when they
are not working or there's a conflict. The only thing I added yesterday was
a Logitech keyboard's software. Do you think *that* might have something to
do with it?

It could well have died, but the first thing to try:
In Device Manager, click to Uninstall the troublesome drive
Reboot, and upon reboot Windows will ReInstall it.

Did you uninstall your previous multimedia keyboard software first?

Yes, then I did what Sister Mary suggested and it's there now. Thank you
both.
