WARNING! If you receive a phone call AT ANY TIME saying: "You may have downloaded a suspicious file from the internet" "You may have a malicious file on your computer." AND/OR "This is the windows security department" OR ANYTHING SIMILAR DO NOT continue to do as they say! It is a scam, I know this because I have just received a call about it!

What they do

They ask for remote control on your computer/laptop that you're using, how they do that is they get you to download a genuine software called TeamViewer. This allows friends, family or trusted technicians to access your computer to solve a problem. HOWEVER in this case they use it to goto another remote access site called logmein.com and change the language to France or any other language that you do not understand because there is a warning saying "Think twice before accepting this as the technitian is using a trial version of logmein technician!"

IF YOU HAVE GOTTEN THAT FAR ALREADY, end the call, shut down your network AND YOUR COMPUTER/LAPTOP SCAN IT AFTER IT HAS BOOTED BACK UP! If nothing is detected, continue as normal but DO NOT ANSWER TO THOSE KIND OF CALLS!

It's already happened, they've got in, what do I do?

SHUT DOWN THE COMPUTER/LAPTOP using a built in CD ROM OR a usb CD ROM place a Windows CD into the drive, boot from it, FORMAT THE HARD DRIVE and re-install windows YOU NEED your product key.

If you know another workaround, and you are 100% confident about it then try that method but note, THEY MAY BE STEALING YOUR DATA!
