I have a computer running XP professional. Everytime I start my computer an
information block appears that says " The computer must be restarted before
updating can continue. Would you like to restart now. As far as I can tell
no update was installed. If i click yes, it reboots and comes up with the
same message. If I say no, the computer goes on and works fine. Anyone have
an idea about how to correct this?

You didn't mention which software you recently tried to install!

If it's something from Adobe, this might be helpful:

yes this fixed the problem, deleting the Adobe Updater key in the registry
file. Thanks
