Windows NT terminal server not responding

Hi ... please help. I have a terminal server that students log into for
Microsoft applications. The problem that I am running into is that all 25 of
them log in at the same time, and when they do, several of them freeze and
the TS stops responding. I have to end the task and have them log in again.
Does anyone have any suggestions on this?
 
What OS and SP version are you running on the Terminal Server?
Any warnings or errors in the EventLog?
What kind of TS profiles do the users have? Local? Roaming?
If the problem is caused by a profile load or unload error, you
will find an event saying so. In that case, install the UPHClean
utility.

Thank you for your reply. This is the only error in the System event log:

DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled
or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to
start the service StiSvc with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{A1F4E726-8CF1-11D1-BF92-0060081ED811}

It is error # 10005.

I will try to do the steps listed in the article to enable advanced
performance.

Oops...my OS is Win2003 SP2. I can't enable advanced performance because my
drives are RAID configured. It doesn't give me the option. Should I still
make the registry changes mentioned in the article?

I think so, yes. But make sure that you make a backup of the
registry before modifying the keys.

Is Drive redirection enabled? If yes, disable it and see if you still have
the same issue.

Oops, I hope that blank one didn't post. I have the MyDocuments redirecting.
We need that in our environment because the students move around to
different computers, and some of them are using apps not on terminal servers.

Well, I installed UPHCLEAN and made the registry changes to the TS, but same
problem. If more than one are signing in at once, at least one will freeze
up. If I go to task manager and close the unresponsive TS login, and then
try connection again, it works. The problem is, these are students, and they
can't do that. Could this be a performance/network issue? The TS is
physically in the same room as the students, and once they are connected it
is very quick.

That's folder redirection, not local drive redirection.
