Hi:
I have an app running on a server. I need to have 3 people access it over
the Internet. I am going to run 'Terminal Server' from Windows 2003 Server,
with the 3 clients accessing it across the Internet. I am getting differing
information from different vendors and I know very little about Terminal
Server and its requirements. The vendor of the software wants the Terminal
Server not on my current server that is running the app, but on a workstation
(hardware wise) with Windows 2003 server. He is also saying that Terminal
Server performance is dependent on the hard drives performance. Is that
true?? Do I need 15K RPM hard drive, as recommended?? Or does Terminal Server
operate from RAM after it is called to be loaded??

My thinking is that I should be able to run a dual core Intel with 2 GB RAM
and a 7200 rpm SATA II hard drive and be able to run Terminal Server
servicing 3 clients off that across the Internet. It would have Win 2003
Server installed on it. Your thinking??

To server 3 clients do I need additional licenses?

Thanks,
fox7

It depends of your app requirements. If it is high load app you will need
stronger server, if is something like MS word for three users 2GB and 7200
drivers is enough.
For 3 users enable Remote Desktop for Administration you will have a
maximum of 3 free connections: 2 normal ones and the remote console
session. There are no additional license requirements.
For third connection on client use /console or if it is not working on
never clients /admin switch.
