Hi everyone,

I currently have a problem with the temporary internet files.
They've been getting removed automatically everytime after I shutdown
my laptop.
Also, when I'm running my winxp overnight til the nextday, it always
happens like that.
However, I'm not so sure that the cause of the problem comes from
virus. My Labtop have been infected with viruses long time ago, but
they've been removed.
One important thing, I didn't change any option under the internet
explorer's menu.

What would I need to do to get it back to the normal stage?

Thanks in advance,

hey

be little more specific - which version u r using
so u cant have your browsing history and the list of sites
most likely its related to IE settings there is restore default
settings for IE7 u can use that
IE7 Restore default settings still using IE 6 switch to FF2 -
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
---- restoring default----
Click Start, right click on explorer and select internet properties
Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
Also try the restore option
When Internet Explorer finishes restoring the settings, click Close,
and then click OK.
----

and
believe me viruses and spy ware are NOT that good that they delete
your temp IE files , those are th files they use to mess things up :)
and i use FF2 - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ - lite clean
and very usefully

Sandy

It maybe that the option to empty temporary internet files at shutdown is
enabled in Internet Options. Take a look at this link from my website:

First of all, thanks for reply.
I have tried what you suggested me to do, but it doesn't work though.
Anyway, I'm using IE6. And I've tried even to stop my anti-virus
program, but the problem is still there.
Now I think that IE6 option may have nothing to do with this problem.

Any more idea?

Do you have another system cleanup utility, such as ccleaner, set to run at
startup and clear these folders?

HTH
-pk

I think I've got none of cleanup utility installed in my laptop.

Did you find "Empty Temporary Interne Files when browser is closed" to be
enabled? Did you then disable it, only to find it re-enabled after
rebooting?

Does CCleaner or similar run at Startup?
