I had deleted a program that I realized I needed, so I did a system restore to an earlier time that same day. The computer started the restore process and then when shutting down to restart I heard an error beep, but the computer still shut down. When it restarted I was left with a blue screen with only the windows XP flag icon in the middle. No error message- nothing. Cant click on anything, tried the F8 with the 'safe mode' as well as 'best known good' (or something similar to that phrase) both doing nothing to bring my computer back. Any idea as to what happened? I contacted dell whom after 2 attempts to figure out the problem stated that if he took me to the next step of what he was doing that it would reistall my windows and therefore Id loose ALL "my documents" and such on C drive. This I didnt want to do because I hadnt 'backed up' in about 6 months and had tons of pictures, videos that I would have lost. ANy takers? Id hate to loose my childrens videos and pictures and I have learned my lesson to "BACK-UP". Thanks.
