I have Windows XP and I had to so a system recovery because my computer would
not let me use the recover to an earlier date. This computer is my old one
that is going in my craft room. The problem is now that I have done the
system recovery, the welcome screen came on for me to register as if I had
just purchased the computer. After answering all the questions, the last
screen says "Congratulations!" and click Finish to beging using
Windows........this is where it runs forever, never finishing.....the system
sounds like its running, and the lights are flashing on the front of the
computer like the hard drive is working. There also is no internet
connection to this system.....Any ideas?

XP uses "system restore" where as it can return to an earlier data/time,oem
uses "recovery cds" these cds return the pc to "as it was from the
factory"..You
misunderstood the diffrence, hence youve reinstalled xp,& all points be
considedred,
thats not the recommended way to reinstall xp.From here, you should format the
hard drive before the installation (recovery cd).Usually, the recovery cd
has the
option to format & recover,or simply recover,otherwise install cd,restart
pc,press
F8 before pc restarts, the options might be available,or chk user manual.
