I'm running Windows 2000 professional, SP4, with the corporate version of
Symantec AntiVirus, full version 10.0.2.2000. When I log in as administrator, I
see that one of the scheduled tasks is Symantec NetDetect, but it is disabled
and has never run. I haven't found a way to show when the task was created.
Despite it being diabled, Symantec AntiVirus seems to automatically update
anyway. Is this scheduled task simply a hold-over from older versions of
Symantec AntiVirus?

I would check the Symantec FAQ pages.

We've no idea really. I'd look around here if this is causing a problem.

Will look into it. Thanks.

Thanks for the link. After much perusing and pulling up the About
Symantec Antivirus, it's looking like finding the correct product
(thus setting the stage for trying to find the right FAQ) will be
somewhat involved. Even their procedure for identifying one's product
seems to have no correspondence to what I see. I'll inquire about
this in an AV group, if I pick it up at a later date. Thanks again!

I gave up on symantec some years back. There support has gone by the way
side.
