Switching between accounts (administrator and limited levels) locksup XP's log ins.

Hello,

Does anyone know why my Windows XP Pro. SP2 (all updates; IE6.0 SP2)
hard locks up (HDD light and keyboard lights do not respond) when
logging into an another old/existing account (not a brand new)? It
doesn't matter if I log off the last account OR left the last account
logged in.

The first incident: I was using my administrator-level account, idled
until my screen saver came on, I accidently logged in with another
account as a limited user, XP showed my desktop with its recycle bin,
Start Menu, and default desktop. The hard lock up occurred. HDD light
stopped blinking.

The second incident: I resetted my computer to reboot, I logged as in my
limited account that locked up earlier, saw my desktop and had no lock
ups, logged off, logged into my administrator-level account, locked up
again, and saw corrupted gray screen with weird lines (no desktop at all).

I wonder if it is related to the latest NVIDIA driver for my EVGA
GeForce 7950 GT KO (512 MB; PCIE)? Has anyone seen this issue before? I
haven't had time to dig deeply to see what's up. My computer is pretty
stable everywhere else like gaming, watching TV (HDTV), etc.

Thank you in advance. :)

Re: Switching between accounts (administrator and limited levels)locks up XP's log ins.

Updates... Nothing in event logs and no created dump files that I saw. I
think the hard lock ups didn't let XP have a chance to log things. I did
three more quick testings:

1. Two administrator accounts (logged off one, logged in another). Lock
up. This time, I got light blue screen with lines (not the infamous BSoD).
2. Disabled all startup in my local user accounts, Startup (common),
HKLM/Run, HKCU/Run, and Run Once (nothing in there). These usually have
RivaTV, PopTray, HP software, Creative stuff, NVIDIA stuff (e.g.,
nTune), IME, Tried administrator vs. limited. No help.
3. Logging off and logging in the same account had no problems.

I think my next plans will be:
1. Try safe mode (not sure if it lets me logoff and log in with another
account)
2. Uninstall NVIDIA drivers, retest. If it works, then reinstall.

The issue seems to be resolved. It looked like an uninstall, reboot, and
a reinstall (newer beta build too) fixed it. :)
