Swapped Harddrives - Can I reuse my Windows 8 upgrade?

Hello,

I have noticed on the boards there are already a lot of Windows 8 Upgrade reinstallation threads already answered, but I am still a bit confused about this topic.

I upgraded my sisters harddrive from XP to Windows 8 when the offer was running a couple of year ago. I still have the email confirmation and the code that was sent with it.

To make a long story short, she has managed to corrupt her harddrive (I have no idea how, but thats teenagers for you) and cannot even boot to Windows - just encounters BSOD - Critical Process Died or something along those lines. I cannot get a Product Code for her version of Windows 8. The mobo is practically new and everything else works fine so I cannot believe it is a problem there. After much Googling, coffee, and headaches, I have given up on "fixing" that harddrive - still open to suggestions on how to though!

In the meantime, my dad has just upgraded from a desktop PC running XP to a brand-spanking new laptop that he will not "donate" to his PC wrecking daughter.

Could I re-use the code I got from upgrading her PC ages ago to upgrade my dad's version of XP?

(a quick and easy answer would be appreciated - she is doing my head in!)

Thank you in advance!
