Just recently I have had a problem with CorelDraw X13 crashing. I traced it
down to svchost.exe running and sucking up 100% of the CPU. This has been
observed using the Top Stats utility from PC Mag. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,

W. Wolfe

PS on the below. I am running XP Pro with SP2 installed and all of the
automatic updates have been installed.

Look at the Options, to see if you are set for automatic updates.

Try the corel newsgroups for that rev. Very likely
some user there is pretty likely to be able to help.
If you have autoupdates turned on, you might try
turning that off first and do a Restart; see if that
helps. Autoupdate has been borked for a long time.

What changes when the problem started?
Did the program EVER work?

Pop`

How much RAM memory?

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

You should be able to gather more information from Task Manager. With
the Processes tab open select View, Select, Columns and check the boxes
before Peak Memory Usage and Virtual Memory size. What are the figures
for the 4 processes using the largest amounts?

Do you leave your computer on 24/7?

Process Explorer provides more information than Task Manager.

Download Process Explorer.

For further information about Process Explorer see here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/SystemInformation/ProcessExplorer.mspx

It would be helpful if you could post the Command Line of the svchost
process generating the excessive CPU usage. In Process Explorer place
cursor on Process and select Properties, Image.
