I have an old Windows XP laptop (Dell D600 Pentium 4) that is adequate for reading email and surfing the web, but it's getting slow and I am looking for a replacement.
I've looked at Chromebooks and read about the Surface Pro 3 but they all seem to be missing things I have on this laptop and I hate widescreen laptops. I have a small Macbook but it's a little old too and I prefer to use that for specific things and portability and not just a general kitchen computer. I have a small laptop stand (the kind you buy at Walmart) and anything bigger than my D600 makes it a little awkward to use the mouse.
The Surface Pro 3 looks better than the current widescreen laptops with it's taller display, but I will have to sacrifice USB ports for its tablet portability.
Chromebooks are nice but I will be missing compatibility with anything that isn't supported in Chrome.
Can someone make the best recommendation for my upgrade? Thanks.
