stuck on failure configuring screen

Hey there everyone. I have a Toshiba laptop with windows 8 that is stuck on the Failure configuring windows updates reverting changes. It has been on this screen and will not do anything else. I tried following the links provided in some other posts but if I can't get it past this screen what would you recommend. Please help. I'm just starting courses and really need this to work
