A company called Reis Labs has announced plans for a wooden Bluetooth speaker called the Street Performer, and are seeking funds to launch it via Kickstarter.
The page states:
Reis' unique wood construction, in lieu of a more conventional plastic or metal casing as employed by most speaker manufacturers, naturally provides an extraordinarily rich sound. In addition, our internal packaging has been designed to maximize amplification without compromising sound quality. To best exploit the acoustic properties of our housing, we use a varied range of powerful drivers, tweeters, radiators and other components in our speakers.
There will be two models sold; a regular Street Performer with two 2-inch mid-range drivers, a 2-inch passive radiator, and a built-in rechargeable battery, and the Street Performer Pro which will offer better sound thanks to two 3-inch mid-range neodymium drivers, and two tweeters along with the same 2-inch passive radiator.
Pledging $75 or more will get a person a Street Performer while a $199 pledge offers the backer a Street Performer Pro. The speakers are scheduled to finish shipping to backers in February 2015, assuming the Kickstarter campaign reaches its $60,000 goal.
What do you think of this interesting Bluetooth speaker?
