strange desktop problem

I have an IBM Thinkpad (and have owned it for almost exactly two years). I
update it regularly; both Windows updates and via SystemUpdate for the IBM
software.

Yesterday I did a SystemUpdate and now I have a somewhat strange problem.

My Thinkpad is configured not to hibernate when I close the lid; it merely
turns off the screen. Now, when I close the lid and re-open it, the program
windows which were left open are in all kinds of different positions, and
are even different sizes than what they were before.

I cannot for the life of me think what would have caused this, except maybe
new ATI driver upgrades.

I realise this is a minor problem, but it's massively irritating! If anyone
has the same problem or knows of a solution, I would greatly appreciate some
advice.

Many thanks

Colin

Many people seem to think that they need to have the latest and greatest
updates all the time, well this is really not the case update your av and
malware programs, yes. As far as the others well $hit happens all of the time.

Try a system restore to a time before these updates were installed it just
might help.
If you truely believe that it is a ATI driver update then just go to device
manager and roll back the driver this will cause your computer to use the
last driver it had.
Good luck.
