My current desktop system fits pretty well inside my computer room at home. My dorm, however, is about two thirds the size and involves a bed and closet besides the machine. As a result, I've been looking for ways to scale down, as cheaply as possible. The current item I'm working on is the display - my current 17" CRT is massive. Does anyone have experience with inexpensive, smallish LCDs? I'm looking for something with decent response, but don't want to dump a lot on it. Recommendations on brand/model?

It will never cease to amaze me how major corporate websites can be so large and include so little data. After browsing Pricewatch a bit, these Hitachis look to be a pretty good deal; now to acquire some dough ...

I was using the same as you 17" CRT but now I am using a ViewSonic LCD V155 15" Flat Panel - Works great and pretty cheap (I got mine free for buying 4 - 48 port 3com Switches) but I check out viewsonics website and the LCD was only $150us. Flat panel is the only way to go these days.
