There is a lot of talk now about the soon to be released SP3. Was
wondering, does it include IE7? Reading various NG's (Vista, IE etc.)
there seems to be a LOT of problems and discontent with IE7 ... thus my
question!

Since it doesn't exist yet, nobody can answer your question for sure.
Somebody might know whether a beta version contains IE7, but the
answer to the question is not necessarily the same as the answer to
your question.

I'm very happy with IE7 on all four machines here, and have no
problems with it at all.

Whenever a new version of *anything* comes out, you always read about
"problems and discontent." But realize two things:

1. If you're reading about problems *here*, in the newsgroups, this
where people come with their problems, not with their successes. You
get a very distorted view of what's going on in the real world here;
as someone once said, "hang around a transmission shop and you will
think that all cars have transmission problems."

2. Most problems, by far, that people report here--whether or not they
are IE7-related--have nothing to do with defects in the software. They
result from people's ignorance, from bad or inadequate hardware, from
old drivers, from viruses, from spyware, and so on. And except for
very rare situations, they always get a fix for their problems, and in
most cases, that fix is a very simple one to implement.

SP3 will purportedly update IE6 to IE6 SP3 and, for computers that
have IE7, it will purportedly be updated to IE7 SP1 or some such
iteration.

Does not include IE7 or WMP11.

NO

SP3 does not contain IE7

If you want it, you need to install it seperately...
and if you don't want it...you are not forced into it

LOL! I think it's good too. That's why I (as I said) stole it from
another newsgroup poster.

(It wasn't you, was it?)

Just My 2 cents about IE 7, I have not had one bit of trouble with it.
(Maybe I should not have said that, lol)
Tony

It includes updates for both IE 6 and IE 7, depending from which version
you've already installed on your PC.

Hi none, (that doesn't sound right.

I installed IE7 per PA Bears begging, pleading, groveling, etc., all in the
name of added security.

It gives you tabbed browsing like the old MyIE6 did, and later Maxthon.

**One word of caution**

Follow Robears instructions *to the letter* if you want a good install. It
is a lot of reading, but very well worth it.

PS I'm very happy PA Bear begged and groveled. I actually like IE7, but
don't tell him.

If you create a slipstream of your WinXP CD with no service packs, with SP3, what version of IE will be loaded when using the final CD on a clean install?

Thanks

By the way, I run Maxthon (which is an IE shell) on top of IE7. I
think it's the best combination there is, providing both IE7's
security and Maxthon's terrific feature set. Maxthon is now in version
2, which provides a number of improvements over the original release.

If you haven't tried Maxthon 2, take a look at http://www.maxthon.com/
I like its style of tabbed browsing much better than native IE7's and
there's a *lot* more there than just tabbed browsing.
