SP2 download will not allow me to install unless laptop is plugged into AC.
My problem is that my ac plug is fried (using another laptop to charge
batteries). Is there any way to bypass the "must be plugged in" message?
Thanks.

I'd very much doubt it, Tom.

Can you not obtain/purchase a new power adaptor for the laptop. Surely
computer vendors would carry such accessories.

unfortunately, the spot where the power cord attaches to the motherboard is
fried...short of replacing the motherboard, I have to charge my batteries on
another laptop.
