Like others I am somewhat disgusted with the lack of support from Sony.
After installing Windows 7 on my VAIO VGN-FZ18L the Motion Eye no longer
worked. I bought the machine to use Skype when away from home, so it was
rendered useless. I have managed to get Skype going again - here is how
I did it ....
Despite doing a Windows 7 'clean install' and being informed that all my
data and old operating system would be removed I was surprised to see
that some items remained and that my old operating system was bundled up
in a 'windows.old' file. The plan was to extract the old driver from
that.
Start / Control Panel
Select - View Devices & Printers
Double click - USB Composite Device, select Hardware Tab then
Properties
Under General Tab press Change Settings
A new window , 'USB Composite Device Properties' will open
select Driver Tab, then Update Driver, you will be asked how
to find the driver
select Browse My Computer for driver software
Use Browse button to find old driver on my machine it
was
C:\Windows.old\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository, then press
Next
This will cause the system to scan, locate and install the
'motion eye' driver. (VGP_VCC4
At the end of this the camera worked again on Skype but without sound.
By clicking the Skype microphone mute button off then on again the sound
was restored. Dont ask me why - but it worked.
