hello I received my Surface Rt for Xmas. Despite not being able to do a few things work wise it has been an ok lappy. a few months ago I noticed some minor changes on my lappy and paid no attention to it. I have been using one of two desk tops along with my lappy and really started noticing some issues. I thought I had called AOL because it was with that account that I noticed some really strange behaviors with AOL that morning.
So after calling the number that was being given now that I think back it wasn't really AOL well the person on the other end of the line wanted to do a remote access to my computer, ( My surface would not allow the program to run) so I ran upstairs to my office and we proceeded with the remote connection. The person on the line typed a command which he claimed to be an email scan ? and it came back with information leading me to believe that I had been hacked by someone by the name of Tommy in China. Well upon seeing all of this ( I work from home ) i was devastated and wanted it fixed immediately. The person on the line was telling me to calm down he could help me out and get this taken care of since this was putting 3 computers at risk.
Bottom line came down to paying some 500 plus for a 2 year, 5 year and lifetime plans and protection. Noticing that the call was getting creepier and creepier I disconnected the call but not thinking i forgot to print out or even save the "black box records".
Well I jump on the phone with my internet provider and they tell me there is nothing to worry about. Aol tells me they were doing some kind of update. Since I have changed passwords every other day on all computers, stopped using one and even stopped using my internet connections. I am able to use a remote connection to the work server but that has a limited scope as most programs needed are on my lappy. And now I am noticing a very long delay in receiving even work emails now. I am getting them a day late if I receive them at all. Emails sent are even having a delay. I am constantly running windows defender and it says that all is fine. But this past week I had an issue with updating the program. When I started searching to see what is going on I keep getting advice on what to do but I can t download the program or even find in the store.
I really would like to know what I can do to get my surface rt running back to normal if not better. The other computes can wait as Dell can service them. But this one REALLY NEEDS HELP!!!!
