Something is automatically 'clicking' me out of my active window

As I'm viewing webpages in IE7 or navigating files in Windows Explorer,
something automatically, and continually (about ever minute or so) 'clicks'
me out of the active window leaving no windows active. This is particularly
annoying when I'm navigating with keys or the scroll-wheel as I have to first
'click' back into the window I was trying to view before doing anything else.
It almost seems like something is controlling my computer like spy-ware or
something. I've got the latest McAffee virus software running and as far as
I know I'm virus free. I can't pinpoint exactly when this happened, but it
seems rather recent (could be with the install of IE7). But could be related
to my new Western Digital external server.
Anyone else run into this annoyance? Or found a way to get rid of it?

Do you also run anti=spyware software such as Spybot, or Adaware?

This might help:
