I just bought a Mtron 16GB SSD to speed up the boot/startup process and it
has caused a delay in the Xp boot sequence !!!!

WinXp SP2 starts just fine but then I get the white bar with vertical
stripes (that disappear across the screen - not very fast).
Then it just sits there for 40sec (must be waiting for something) and then
runs like the clappers.
After welcome screen it goes very fast.

I have tried this on two PCs. On one it is OK, on the other I get this
problem.

On the one with the problem, the details are :

Mobo Asrock AM2NF3-VSTA BIOS at 2.60 (just updated - no change to problem)
ATA DVD drive : Samsung (on Master1)
Mtron 16GB drive on SATA1
WD Raptor 74GB on SATA2

2x Intel Pro/1000 MT NICs (also bootable)

BIOS setup seems to be OK with the boot sequence : DVD-Mtron-Others.

I've also disabled/disconnected the DVD drive but with no change to the
problem.

Before I added the SSD to this PC, there were no boot problems.
I replaced a Seagate 80GB SATA with the Mtron SSD and swapped the boot drive
from the Raptor to the SSD.
AND I reinstalled everything.

On the one without the problem (newer), the details are :

Mobo Asrock ALiveNF6P-VSTA
SATA DVD drive : Samsung(on SATA1)
Mtron 16GB drive on SATA2
Seagate 80GB on SATA3

2x Intel Pro/1000 MT NICs (also bootable).

Any ideas ?

Thanks
