Slow Logoff

I am calling a logoff script using group policy and users experience a 600
second delay logging off in the following two scenarios:

Scenario #1
1. Connect to VPN before logon
2. Log on (group policy applies setting to call logoff script from a network
location on log off)
3. Disconnect from VPN (but stay connected to an external network)
4. Log off (The system hangs at the “running logoff scripts†screen as it
can no longer connect the server the logon script is on and then times out
after 600 seconds)

Scenario #2
1. Connect Internal Network before logon
2. Log on (group policy applies setting to call logoff script from a network
location on log off)
3. Disconnect from Internal network and connect to an external network
4. Log off (The system hangs at the “running logoff scripts†screen as it
can no longer connect the server the logon script is on and then times out
after 600 seconds)

Is there a way to change the timeout period for a logoff script from the
default of 600 seconds? I’ve set the “Maximum wait time for Group Policy
Scripts†in Group Policy to 60 seconds however this does not seem to change
the time out for logoff scripts (just start-up, shutdown and logon). Any
other suggestions on how to change the timeout or resolve this in another way
besides (running the logoff script from a local location) would also he
helpful.

Thank-you

Jason
