A
abbie
I've just installed a slipstreamed copy of XP SP3, and I've noticed a number
of Windows components aren't there, as they were in XP SP2. In particular:
* Internet Explorer
* Remote Desktop Connection
IE is easy enough to install on its own, but putting back Remote Desktop
Connection seems trickier. I know I can get an RDC client easily enough, but
because the Remote tab is no longer present in the properties for "My
Computer," I'm wondering if the ability to connect to the new installation
via RDC is gone too.
I Googled the issue and found a recommendation to execute this command from
a prompt:
regsvr32 remotepg.dll
The registration appeared successful, but the Remote tab didn't reappear,
even after a restart.
I used nLite, but only to slipstream the installation--I didn't remove any
components. I did change some network settings to define a static IP address
and such, but that's pretty much the extent of the tweaking beyond the
slipstreaming.
This leaves me with two issues:
* How do I restore RDC?
* Can anyone direct me to a *comprehensive* list of OTHER bits of Windows
that have gone missing with a slipstreamed SP3 installation? Googling hasn't
been much use for that.
