I thought I would use my laptop that I just loaded with W8 for a slide show on my Sony TV. I connected the laptop to the TV by HDMI lead as I used to with W7 in the first instance to the side socket and when I started the slide show (using the built in slide show facility) it came up with an error banner across the screen saying that the resolution was too low, but when I clicked on the change resolution link, it went from 1280 x 720 to 1280 x 800 pixels and cut off part of the picture (it worked ok when I tried it just on the laptop screen previously) so I found this HDMI connection was no longer appropriate and tried one at the back of the TV (HD 1,920x1080 pixels resolution) and found this worked ok. However it did not fill the whole of the TV screen. I never had these problems with W7 and am unsure how to overcome the problem.
