I have a Win7 PC for daily use, and an older Win XP box in my home studio for audio recording. It worked fine for quite a long time.
After not recording for 8 months, I did some work on it, it worked absolutely fine. Then when I shut down that day it had a truckload of Win XP updates, including the final XP updates.
Every single time since then, one I start it, 5 out of 6 times it dead freezes either instantly upon loading the desktop, or within a minute. Hard lockup. No CTRL ALT DEL works. I have to hard reset it.
I can't afford a replacement PC soon, and I need this box back immediately for recording work.
Any good valid reason the final XP update would basically brick my PC?
And yes, I have a Win 7 CD. And probably another install left on it. But I doubt Win 7 will install on that PC.
I'm more than a little upset.
