I have Windows Server NT 4 PDC and I want to setup another Windows Server
2003 and run AD to replace my existing NT 4 domain. How do I do it and
migrate the username and login script from my NT 4 server to the new server
running Windows 2003. Thanks in advance

Hello toby,

You can only run AD parallel if you migrate to another domain name.
For this you can use AMDT 3:

If you will keep the same domain name, you have to do an inplace upgrade
ont he old NT4 PDC.

Thanks Meinolf,
Can the inplace upgrade be done on the NT4 BDC instead of the PDC? Thanks

Hello tobyone,

No, but before starting the upgrade, replicate between pdc and bdc then you
can disconnect the PDC from the domain and if something goes wrong just make
the bdc to pdc and the old domain is still running.
