Hi

I have recently upgraded my motherboard and have a niggling problem when
shutting down or putting the system on standby. When I shut down it reboots
and when I put it into standby after a few seconds it returns to the log in
screen.

The system I have is :syntax sv266a mobo, geforce mx400 64mb gfx, athlon
2200+ cpu, 1.5gb ddr dimm. Not new but all working fine.

Some searching on Google revealed some known issues with the mobo and one
very helpful guy who had had experience of these mobo's had found that with
the fsb set to 133 windows did not load correctly and setting it to the
slower 100 speed while installing proved more successful, then changing the
jumper to 133 after installation.

I was in the process of doing this and after installation of xp I tried to
standby/shutdown and sure enough it worked fine. I then continued to
install SP2, after this installation the problem was back. I thought it was
a flook, or I was cracking up so I removed SP2 and sure enough was ok re
installing it brought it back.

I use a netgear wireless router with a dlink wireless pci card in the
desktop in question. Without SP2 I have no wireless connection. Although
it is showing to be working ok when I click on its icon near the clock all
the buttons are greyed out.

This is not really a problem, more an annoying niggle and I will have to
live with it to maintain my wireless connection.

Any advice appreciated

Gary
