Hi Folks,

We recently added a 2nd site linked via dedicated T-1 (point to point).
While the first site has two DC/DNS servers, we'd like to add one more to the
new site, and have AD & DNS replicated over.

What's the best process to do so? Should I just add the new server to the
domain first? Then promote it to a DC?

Thanks

Are you sure these two articles are relevant? Neither of these articles
mention anything about about configureing AD Sites & Services.

Thoughts?

In the physical site, on the server, point DNS in TCP to the two DC's in the
main site
Install DNS
Run DCpromo
Once it is in the domain as DC make sure replication is working for FRS
Check your File replication event logs for a 13516 event id

Open up AD sites and services
Under the server that you added highlight your ntds settings
Right click on the replication object (automatically generated) and choose
replicate now.
If it says that it successfully replicated you are OK to proceed to the next
step
Leave the sites and services open on the new DC

On the main DC in the main site
Open Active Directory Sites and services
Create a new Logical site
Create a new subnet and point it to the logical site
Right click and move the new server into the new site

Go back to sites and services on the new DC and choose replicate now.

This should show up in the new site in a couple of minutes

DNS should replicate depending on whether you are replicating through the
forest or through domain in about 15 minutes in your DNS console

Once that has completed change the primary to point to itself and the
secondary to point to one of the other DC's

You may also want to consider making it a GC.

Thanks
