I am continually getting the error message "Services and Controller app has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." The error causes me no end of grief. If I drag the message
to the bottom of the screen and leave it alone, the computer is fine, at
least until I attempt to shut down my computer, at which point shutdown goes
into a one minute countdown warning. I can make the countdown stop by running
Shutdown -a. While there are assorted commentaries on this problem on the
web, I can find no authoritative solution to this problem at Microsoft. The
issue is clouded with mentions of services.exe sometimes being the virus
MyDoom, but I've run a variety of virus softwares and found no virus on my
machine. Is there some reason why Microsoft doesn't include this error
message in its online collection? I would be grateful for a fix as I'm
pulling my hair out.
