Windows 2003 Service & Scheduled Task Passwords Not Being Retained

We had to do a system wide password change a couple of months back, as such
we had to update some of the services that use domain accounts and also
scheduled tasks.

Since then every time there is a reboot or a service restart, the service or
scheduled task will fail due to a logon failure. So again we reply the
passwords and the service or scheduled task works...............

But as soon as the service or server is rebooted, or in the case of a
scheduled task, the next time its due to run, again it fails due to a logon
issue.

This has been ongoing for some months, and as you can imagine causes
problems, we simply cant use the task scheduler now.

I have tried recreating scheduled tasks but the problem remains, obvioulsy
with the services I have tried alternate accounts, created new accounts etc,
the problem also affects local service accounts not just domain ones.

We have about 32 Windows 2003 servers, all running SP1 and all the latest
updates, from what I can see all servers have this problem, although its
around 7 servers that I have this issue with on a regular basis due to the
roles they perform.

I can find no information on this problem, am I alone?

I sorted my own problem.

Group policy was set to only allow specific accounts the log on as service
and log on as batch rights.

The policy had been in place since about a year ago but for whatever reason
only sprang into life a couple of months back.

I created a dedicated account, added the account to the list of accounts
that can run the specified action and then updated the relevent tasks and
services, now running ok!
