I never did successfully install SP2 and now my computer won't allow me to do
various things such as play videos etc. A friend said I need to uninstall
and reinstall SP1 then install SP2. I went to the Add/Remove programs file,
but I don't see anything listed for SP1. I'd appreciate any help you can
offer.

Check the level of your computer. Control panel---system---or system
information.

SP2 can be installed over SP1.

Goto Start|Run type winver <enter>
What version do you have?

SP1 may have come with the system and thus its not removable.

What happened with SP2?
What things don't work?

What videos are you trying to play? Divx / Xvid ?

Try downloading WMP11 individually ?

What happens if you goto Tools, Windows Updates and choose 'Custom '. Should
be presented with high priority and software updates, choose all the
software ones and then proceed to install all.

Assuming of course you are using Windows Media Player to play videos.

I suggest install SP3 direct to your system to see if it installs
properly. If it does then you don't need SP2. Did your system come
with SP1 when you bought few yeard ago?

I just tried to install SP2. It is currently at the "Running processes ater
install" and it has been apparently stuck at this half way point for over an
hour. Should I wait or did it not install correctly again?
