HI all,

Win XP home edition, pentium 4, 3.2 ghz, and 1 gig ram.......

Until I get home from work, this is all I have to go on, hopefully this will
be sufficent... The problem is: The Security Center Services is turned off,
the firewall turns off.......... If someone could help me turn the security
services back on that would be awesum!! Thanx in advance!!

I was told to go into control panel then management tools, then services and
click on security services and then click the start button... When I go
into control panel there is no "Management Tools" option....... So how do I
turn back on the services stated above?

Service pack level?
What third-party security tools are installed?
Is the machine up to date at Windows Update?

HI,

It is SP2, other than norton there is no third party anti-virus. Also, I am
not sure if it has been updating it's self. It is scheduled to, but i'll
have to look if it is updated manually............

Older versions of Norton had Internet Worm Protection, which is a firewall.
You are using this instead of the Windows Firewall so Windows Firewall
being disabled is by design. Time to open Norton and make sure your
subscription is still active and your virus definitions are current. Or get
rid of Norton (best choice) and install a better antivirus instead. I like
NOD32, Kaspersky, or even Avast (free). It would also be smart to run a few
scans with other antivirus/antimalware tools at this point.
