Greetings, Azure PostgreSQL Enthusiasts! We are delighted to share our latest update for September 2023, which brings a host of improvements to Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server. This month's updates revolve around further streamlining your database operations and enhancing your monitoring and migration capabilities on Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server. Without further ado, let’s explore the features that have made September so groundbreaking.
Feature Highlights of the Month
Single to Flex migration tool with the improved migration infrastructure is now available in China regions.
We are happy to announce the availability of Single to Flex migration tool with the improved migration infrastructure in China regions. This is already available to all public cloud regions and with this update, the migration tool is available to all Azure regions enabling customers to migrate their single server to Flexible server in a single-click.
Due to capacity constraints, Flexible server cannot be provisioned in China North 2 and China East 2 regions. Keeping this mind, we have enabled cross region migration functionality for servers in China regions.

Support for New Minor PostgreSQL Versions
Staying updated is critical in the dynamic world of databases. In line with this philosophy, we're thrilled to announce the support for new minor PostgreSQL versions: 15.4, 14.9, 13.12, 12.16, and 11.21. With Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server, you can now seamlessly upgrade to these versions, benefiting from the latest patches, enhancements, and security updates. New Region builds rollout
Azure Database for PostgreSQL-Flexible has expanded its global presence to include 3 additional regions: US Gov Texas, Polan Central, Norway West. This expansion brings the total number of regions where the service is available to 50 worldwide. The addition of these new regions addresses the needs of many existing customers who require in-region disaster recovery solutions to fulfill their business and regulatory obligations. It is important to note that access to certain regions is restricted to accommodate specific customer use cases, such as in-country disaster recovery. These regions are available only upon request by creating a new support request.

Customer Spotlight: Amesite's Transformation with Azure Database for PostgreSQL
In the dynamic world of e-learning, innovators are always on the lookout for tools that can supercharge their platforms. This month, we shine our spotlight on Amesite Inc., a trailblazer in the e-learning domain. Amesite, with its mission to deliver AI-driven, custom-tailored learning experiences, faced the challenge of finding a database solution that could match its ambitions. Their search culminated in Azure Database for PostgreSQL, and the results have been nothing short of transformative.
For Amesite, the transition to Azure's managed database service was more than just a technical migration—it was an upgrade. Already familiar with the PostgreSQL server construct, the shift was seamless. But what truly stood out was the drastic performance boost post-migration. With Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Amesite saw an astounding 50% jump in query performance, enhancing throughput, transaction queries, and overall internet bandwidth. It wasn't just about speed and efficiency; data privacy and security, pillars of Amesite's values, found a reliable partner in Azure.
Dr. Ann Marie Sastry, CEO of Amesite, encapsulates their journey best:
"Azure Database for PostgreSQL was not just a tool—it was a game-changer. Our commitment to delivering unparalleled e-learning experiences found a robust ally in Azure. The platform's scalability, combined with its impeccable security, has allowed us to promise and deliver excellence to our users." This collaboration underscores the limitless potential that can be unlocked when innovation meets the right technology. As we celebrate Amesite's achievements, we're reminded of the transformative power of the Azure ecosystem in the hands of visionaries.
