Security update (KB973768) install failure: error code 0x8007F0F4

I have recently had to reinstall my operating system (Windows XP) on my HP Pavilion laptop. I have been able to re-install up to and including the Service Pack 3. I am now trying to install the Security update (KB973768) but it keeps failing to install
and gives the error code 0x8007F0F4. Can someone please help? Thanks.
