I don't know what that site is about above, but it's obvious that your Web
browser needs to be in a secure connection between that Web site and the
browser, because information has to be protected.

You'll see that HTTPS anytime you're in contact with a site where your
credit card number or other such information are being transmitted over the
the Internet where security needs to be applied. Would you want to be in
contact with a Web site where such information between you and the site is
needed and it's not a secure connection?

You need to make contact with the Web administrator of the site by phone or
email and find out why that site's certificate is now invalid. Certificates
have an expiration date that can expire too, which could be the problem
along with other things.

IE7 on Vista has the 'Check for publisher certificate revocation' and 'Check
for site certificate revocation' set, and the options are not set on IE7
and XP apparently.

You can always turn the configuration on IE7 and Vista off, which is off of
IE7 Internet Options/Advanced.

But for me, that's a security issue with the site's certificate, and there
would be no way I would go to that site nor any other SSL site that had an
invalid certificate.

You need to do some checking with that site and find out what is going on.

ellavarasu,

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but how many times do you need to be told
that you should not go to this website. There is a security risk involved
and that is why Vista is trying to protect you from yourself.
I don't understand. The security certificate has been REVOKED, taken
away for some reason, yet you insist on going there. You could easily go to
this website on XP because XP does not have the security protections that
Vista has.
You can attempt to shut down all of Vista's security features and you
can change the security settings in Internet Options. Keep on trying until
you are finally successful. Once you are successful, and you are able to
connect to this website, you can then repost to this discussion group and
ask for assistance in getting the malware off your computer or reinstalling
your OS.
Please forgive my bluntness, but if you continue on the path you are
taking you are asking for nothing but trouble. What is it you don't
understand about the advice you were given by others?

C.B.

This certificate checking is a part of IE7 and not XP or Vista. It looks
like the certificate checking is enabled by default on IE7 and Vista. While
on the other hand, IE7 was never a part of XP (IE 6 was). So, when one
downloaded and installed IE7 on XP, he or she would have had to know to
enable the features I think.

Two major banks websites that I have been to have cert errors. I have been
getting a lot of these cert errors. I dont think its a prob with the website.
These websites are major companies. I wouldnt see them letting their cert run
out. By the way it happens on and off, not every time.

What sites? I've run across expired security certificates on major bank
sites rather regulary, actually.
