Security Center Problems

My Vista 64 bit seems to be having problems with Security Center. It
does not recognize my anti virus program when it is installed. The
antivirus app seems to show that it is installed correctly. It appears
in the tray and shows that it is working ok. However, both the
antivirus and antispyware areas in Security Center show that no
antivirus or antispyware app is running. Any suggestions? Phil

Which brand Antivirus is it? Can you do a manual update of the definitions,
have you checked the developers website to see if there are any patches or
updates that might fix compatibility issues with Vista's security center?

I have tried AVG, Trend Micro and Bit Defender. All with the same
result. That is to say, they appear to be operating correctly, but it
is not shown on the Security Center. Phil

Sounds like its something with Vista then.

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories and right-click
on the Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator".
Type in: SFC /SCANNOW and press your Enter key.

This should replace/repair any corrupted system files.

If that does not work, try repairing your system. Boot from your Windows
Vista DVD, select the System Repair Option > on the setup screen, select
'Repair Computer > Select your installation of Windows > select Startup
Repair option and follow instructions.
