Hi,

Sorry to bore you with yet another Event Viewer item but a new warning has appeared recently. Despite the warning, I have not noticed any problems and any searches I have done appear to work normally.

The warning report is as follows:
6637 Application Warning 03/06/2018 08:44:58 Windows Search Service 3 3036 Win7-PC 0 476 The content source <csc://{S-1-5-21-183437046-3440708458-1871376203-1004}/> cannot be accessed. Context: Application, SystemIndex Catalog Details: The object was not found. (HRESULT : 0x80041201) (0x80041201)

I have run both 'ChkDsk' and 'sfc /scannow' and neither find any problem. Is this just one of those things of no real consequence and I'll just have to live with or is it an indicator of a potential problem that needs attention?

Any comments and advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers, kick.

Some times things just do not load correctly and I have never seen a system yet no matter the operating system that did not have something show in the event viewer, system log.

Hi Starbuck and Rustys,

I probably look too much at at the Event Viewer but I like to monitor any new occurrences that turn up a check to see if they become persistent. This recent item was something new that seemed to be reported once every hour. Thanks for the link Starbuck; it was useful and informative. I followed its recommendation and the issue is now resolved - in fact, since my original post I have done the following:

Run the Indexing Options (via Control Panel > Indexing Options) as follows:

Modify Tab:
1) unchecked Offline Files (as suggested by Starbuck);
2) checked Local Disk (C) (which was not previously checked);
3) unchecked Internet Explorer History and Sticky Notes;
4) left Local Disk (P) (my datafile partition) checked .

Advanced Options Tab:
Under Index Settings left both items in File settings unchecked and clicked the Rebuild button under Troubleshooting.

There have been no fresh occurrences of the original problem since I undertook these actions so thanks for your help, guidance and encouragement..

UPDATE:
Hi,

I was too optimistic - despite a long period without Event Viewer reports relating to the Windows Search Service, I am getting them once more. They are not as frequent as in the past but are nevertheless appearing from time to time. The latest warning is as follows:

6779 Application Warning 04/06/2018 11:33:21 Windows Search Service 3 3036 Win7-PC 0 436 The content source <csc://{S-1-5-21-183437046-3440708458-1871376203-500}/> cannot be accessed. Context: Windows Application, SystemIndex Catalog Details: (HRESULT : 0x80004005) (0x80004005)

Why this problem suddenly appeared a couple of weeks ago, I do not know; the only major change I have made recently is to uninstall the AMD video driver (as reported in another thread (ACEEventLog errors shown as information in Event Viewer in Windows 7)). Interestingly, there has been another newly seen Event Viewer report that appears occasionally - it is classed as information and refers to the Windows Media Center updating - it started occurring at about the same time as the Search Service problem so could there be some connection?. I don't use the Windows Media Center so may disable it if that is not going to create problems.

Cheers for now, Kick.

UPDATE:
Hi,

Further investigation suggests that this issue relates to a OneDrive folder on my data partition (P:\OneDriveTemp\S-1-5-21-183437046-3440708458-1871376203-1004) - the final part of number in the folder name changes with each occurrence reported by Event Viewer but S-1-5-21-183437046-3440708458-1871376203- remains the same . The folder is empty - I'm not sure of its purpose so I have left it alone. What I have done however, is to navigate to and untick the folder in Indexing Options. The occurrence of the warning was not that frequent but appeared for no particular reason that I could identify that might relate to actions on my part. Since unticking the item in Indexing options I've had no more occurrences but previous experience suggests I should not be complacent.

Trying to get direct help from Microsoft has proved fruitless and time wasting.

Cheers, Kick.

Maybe preventing OneDrive from running automatically will help. Look for the OneDrive icon in your Notification Area. It'll look like a couple of clouds. Right click on it and select Settings. Go to the Settings tab and uncheck "Start OneDrive automatically when I sign into Windows".

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your suggestion - I did as you advised and stopped OneDrive running automatically and that appears to have resolved the issue. I also re-ticked the OneDriveTemp folder and still there have been no recurrences after several hours so I am quite hopeful.

Cheers, Kick
