Windows 2003 Scheduled task not running

Hi,

I setup a scheduled task today on a Windows 2003 Server machine to run a
simple command line utility. I want it to run every hour every day. I'm
able to right click on the task and select "Run" and it runs successfully.
The problem is that the task only runs when I manually start it, and is not
running on the schedule. The schedule is:

Every 1 hour(s) from 12:00 AM for 23 hour(s) every day, starting 8/22/2007.

I originally tried just setting it to repeat the task until 11:00 PM, but
the task scheduler keeps changing it back to a 23 hour duration -- which I
think is the same result and it appears to not be a problem since the "Next
Run Time" column is correctly showing 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, etc.

A little after 10 am, however, when I checked the task scheduler, it shows
the next run time as 11:00 am and the Last Run Time was 9:36 am (the last
time I manually ran the task). And when I checked after 11 am, it showed
the next run time at 12 pm and the Last Run Time still at 9:36 am. The log
shows the two times I manually ran the task, but doesn't show any failed
attempts.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Ben

Hello,
Did you specify any restriction (idle time / run only if logged on ...) ?

Hi. No, I didn't explicitly set any setting except for the schedule. Idle
time is turned off, and run only if logged on is also unchecked.

Actually, it appears the task finally ran on its own at 12:00 pm. So, I
think I'm okay for now, but will keep an eye on it. I also just now changed
the user account the task runs under to the same account that I normally log
into the server under. I'll post again if the task stops running on its
own.

Thank you,
Ben
