Hi All, I noticed a couple of my programs weren't running, and so then I tried to open xp's security center and it would not open, got an error message instead. The message was in a box labeled RunDLL, and the message was "an exception occurred while trying to run c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll, Control_runDLL "C:\Windows\system32\wscui.cpl", Security Center".
This is a Windows XP laptop, service pack three. I have done a file scan using the install CD, with no success, and I have also reinstalled service pack 3, with no success. I've scanned for viruses using malwarebytes, and found nothing. Programs that have stopped working include Evernote and Personal Brain. Seems like other programs are functioning fine, (though I haven't tried them all.) I've copied another copy of wscui.cpl to the desk top and tried to run it, but it comes up with the same error. Seems like other control panel links work fine too. Anybody have any suggestions or solutions for this? thanks
