"run command" problem on windows xp Home

I was wondering if someone could help me with this problem, from the desktop if I click on "run" and type in a web address and press "enter", I get a window that says "application not found". Has anyone ever had this problem or know how to fix it? any help will be appreciated.

The Run option allows you to execute a program or a shell command. To open a webpage, you want to pass the URL to a web browser as a command line argument (provided that your browser accepts URLs on the command line). To open a page with internet explorer, you would run: "iexplore http://www.example.com/" without the quotation marks.
