I finally broke down and upgraded my Dell to SP2. Since then, I can no longer connect to my Linksys router. I can connect directly to my DSL modem, but all I get for a status for the router is 'Acquiring network address'. I have talked with Linksys and they are baffled. I've been going back and forth with Microsoft with no luck.
Here are some of the things I have tried:
1. Disable SP2 firewall and Norton firewall
2. Reset router
3. Connect to router with another machine to make sure it works (it does)
4. Reinstall my network card
5. Try to release IP addresses with ipconfig (already released)
6. Try to renew IP addresses with ipconfig (doesn't work)
7. Cuss (satisfying, ineffective)
8. Throw things (not recommended)
I don't know much about networking, so everything has either factory or Setup Wizard settings, which worked fine with SP1 and works fine with my work-supplied laptop(SP1) connected to the same router.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I don't particularly want to uninstall and go back to daily Windows Update reminders.
Thanks,
Kit
