Restoring computers to factory settings.

Hi guys, i just restored to factory settings, my "OLD" computer which had Windows Xp Professional HP. For some reason, the computer will start, however, it just stays on a black, blank screen, and does absolutely nothing, could someone advise to what i should do? The reason i did this is, because when i wanted to download something, the previous owner had used it in a business, so the administration password needed to be known and was also set up to a server. Therefore i wanted to restart so i have complete control over what happens with the computer.
