Renaming files

I have a problem. I have a number of sub-folders in one master folder (more than 60) and in each of the sub-folders, I have the same file but it is mislabeled. Now, I did a batch rename of the files, but now they all have a (1) after them. Is there was way to batch correct the file name to eliminate the (1)?

To help illustrate my problem, I've tried to diagram out my folder.

Master Folder A

Sub Folder A - file name AAA

Sub Folder B - file name AAA

Sub-Folder C - file name AAA

...and on it goes. As I said, I have 60 sub-folders under master folder A.

What I did to change the file names was, I did a search under master folder A for the file name AAA. Explorer pulled up all the files. I think highlighted the files and change the name of one of them to BBB. Unfortunately, Explorers changed all the files to BBB (1). Clearly, this was not the solution I was looking for since the program will not recognize the file name BBB (1), only BBB.

So, can someone with some understanding of bat files and Command Prompt help me create a file that will enable me to rename all the BBB (1) files to BBB?

Thanking you all in advance,

Bill
